We have realised the largest and most modern logistic complex of the Polish Post Office in the country – the Expeditionary and Cooperative Node. The facility, consisting of two logistics halls and 8 accompanying facilities, was built in the town of Ciemne near Radzymin, next to the expressway S-8. The area of almost 50,000 sq. m. includes storage and operational areas for sorting and distribution of mail, the ‘Cross Dock’ building designed to handle pallet shipments, and a distributor room, which, among other things, has modern social facilities.
The Polish Post Office has placed in the building the largest parcel sorter ever installed in the country. This technologically advanced device will enable the sorting of 15 thousand parcels per hour, which in the future will speed up their distribution and significantly reduce delivery time. Only a dozen or so people are needed to operate it. However, the entire complex is expected to ultimately create 1,200 new jobs.
The specialists at Harden Construction have ensured that this state-of-the-art Expedition and Distribution Centre is built on the principles of sustainable construction. The facility meets the requirements for BREEAM certification at the Excellent level. In the halls, access to daylight was maximised through a system of roof windows and additional friendly so-called ‘intelligent lighting’ was installed. The entire complex is equipped with appropriate ventilation to ensure optimum temperature and fresh air access throughout the year. The area has been properly channelled and special separators intercept possible water contamination, e.g. with petroleum substances from delivery and courier vehicles.
The more than 11 hectare site includes green areas with special insect boxes. An infrastructure for rest and relaxation for employees has been created. Bicycle parking spaces with a bicycle repair station, electric car chargers and functional car parks for more than 200 cars and dozens of lorries and large delivery vans have been created.
